Miami City Hall contains a secret Pan Am museum!
Happy Friday from Miami! āļø
Iām home this week, but still leaning into the aviation themeātomorrow Iām finally checking out the old Pan Am seaplane terminal, which now houses Miami City Hall in Coconut Grove. If youāve never seen it, the building itself is a piece of airline history. Back in the 1930s and ā40s, this was the heart of Pan Amās flying boat operations, launching Clipper flights to Havana, South America, and beyond.
The Art Deco terminal has been beautifully preserved, and while itās no longer an official museum, you can still walk through the lobby and see original architectural details and historical markers. If youāre ever in Miami and want a dose of Golden Age glamour, itās definitely worth the stopāhereās a quick guide and location info in case you want to add it to your layover plans.
As for this weekās newsletter, weāve got new hotel deals in Ireland and across Europe, a daylight flight strategy that might just change how you cross the Atlantic, and a Bluetooth travel gadget I swear by. Oh, and if youāve ever dreamed of an easy standby trip to/from Canada, this is your moment.
Enjoy the weekend! āļø

šØ Light Load Alert:
U.S.-Canada
Thereās a borderline embarrassing amount of empty seats on U.S.-Canada flights right now. Blame it on shoulder seasonātoo early for summer tourists, too late for ski crowdsāand, increasingly, a cooling appetite for cross-border travel amid current political tensions. We wrote more about that here.
For passriders, itās the ideal window to hop across the border without sweating the standby list. Youāll find open cabins, easy upgrades, and fewer gate lice. Whether you're craving poutine in MontrĆ©al or want to soak up the sun in Phoenix, nowās your chance.
Just take a look at these current loads we found using the StaffTraveler app:
YXU-MCO on Flair
It's basically a charter flight for passriders at this point. 128 open seats, and not a soul listed.

YYZ-SFO on United

YYC-PHX on WestJet
