Getting to New York’s busiest airport just got easier—and cheaper. Uber has officially expanded its popular Uber Shuttle service to John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), offering a new, wallet-friendly way for travelers and airline employees alike to get to and from the terminals.
According to Secret NYC, Uber Shuttle offers shared rides along fixed routes at pre-scheduled times, starting from $12.49. Riders reserve a seat on a professionally driven, larger-capacity vehicle—think a minibus rather than a personal car—and then hop on and off at designated locations.
Uber Shuttle service at JFK will initially run between JFK and multiple points across Queens, including stops in Astoria, Jackson Heights, Forest Hills, and Jamaica. Pickups and drop-offs are scheduled ahead of time, eliminating the uncertainty (and surge pricing) that can come with regular rideshare.
Building On Uber’s Success at LGA
If this sounds familiar, it’s because Uber launched a similar service at LaGuardia Airport (LGA) last year. The LaGuardia rollout targeted one of New York’s most notoriously inconvenient airports, and quickly gained traction among budget-conscious travelers and employees commuting to work.
Now, Uber is bringing that same model to JFK, where notoriously limited public transportation options and pricey UberX fares have long been a headache for fliers and staff.
Reservations for the JFK shuttles can be made directly through the Uber app, with pricing displayed upfront. Shuttle vehicles are clearly marked for easy identification at pickup zones.
Why It Matters For Airline Staff
For airline employees—especially those who commute to work out of JFK—this new Uber Shuttle service could be a huge win. Here’s why:
Predictable Costs: Unlike surge-prone UberX rides, shuttle prices are locked in when you reserve—no nasty last-minute fare spikes.
Cheaper Than Regular Rideshare: At ~$12–$20 a ride, it's a fraction of the cost of a typical JFK Uber ride, which can easily top $50+ from Queens.
More Reliable Than the Subway: If you’re rushing for a check-in time or a tight check-in window, a direct shuttle could save serious time and stress compared to navigating multiple subway and bus transfers.
Easy for Groups: If a few crew members are commuting together, everyone can book a seat on the same shuttle and travel as a team.
As every passrider knows, saving money on the ground leaves more in the budget for adventures once you get airborne.
Plus, if the JFK and LGA services continue to perform well, it’s not hard to imagine Uber expanding shuttles to Newark (EWR) and other major U.S. airports—a trend that would make nonrev life just a little easier.
Looking Ahead
Uber’s move to offer affordable airport transit comes as demand for lower-cost, reliable ground transportation continues to climb. As the summer travel season ramps up, expect these shuttles to become a go-to option for both leisure travelers and airline employees navigating New York’s airport chaos.
