Aviation folks don’t mess around when it comes to April 1st.
Airlines, airports, and even flight trackers love to prank us with products so absurd they loop around and sound… actually kind of awesome. Here are five of our favorite April Fools' Day jokes from 2025 that had us doing a double take between flights—ranked for maximum anticipation.
5. SkyTeam Introduces Armrest Priority
Armrest Priority has landed. Tired of the silent battle for the middle armrest? We get it. SkyTeam is proud to introduce Armrest Priority—a brand-new benefit for SkyTeam Elite and Elite Plus members that guarantees full armrest access, no questions asked. Available on all flights

Middle seat warriors, rejoice—SkyTeam unveiled “Armrest Priority” for Elite and Elite Plus members, finally settling the age-old battle for elbow space.
Why we loved it:
It’s a fun concept because it taps into a very real pain point. Every flight has at least one unspoken passive-aggressive armrest duel. And let’s be honest: if airlines could monetize armrests, they would’ve done it yesterday.
4. JetBlue Launches JetGlow™ in Mint
JetBlue debuted JetGlow™, a fake inflight blue light therapy treatment available in Mint. The ad promised circadian alignment, enhanced cellular recovery, and skin that stays “blue-tiful” at 35,000 feet.
Why we loved it:
The branding was so on-point that this didn’t even feel like a joke—more like an actual product announcement. Considering Mint already includes wellness kits and fancy meals, we wouldn’t put it past them to try something like this for real. Bonus points for the soothing music and aesthetic lighting.
3. WestJet Offers Billboard-Worthy Vacation Pics
WestJet’s new “Vacation Flex” promised travelers the chance to share their best vacation photos on billboards across Canada. Because nothing says “flex” like showing your Cancun sunset on the side of a highway in Saskatoon.
Why we loved it:
It brilliantly mocked social media culture and travel advertising in one go. It also felt like something WestJet might actually test for engagement. We’re now lowkey hoping to see a billboard that just says “This Could’ve Been You—On Staff Travel.”
2. SWISS Unveils Retractable Crew Shoes
Rolling into the Future: From 1 July 2025, all SWISS employees get the game-changing Crew Shoe. 👟⚡ With retractable wheels, gliding through airports & meetings has never been easier.🚀 #flyswiss#SWISSCrewShoe

SWISS rolled out (literally) the futuristic “Crew Shoe,” a sneaker with retractable wheels to help employees glide through the airport with style and speed.
Why we loved it:
Not only did this give us major Heelys flashbacks, but it sparked genuine envy. If you’ve ever worked a tight connection in a terminal the length of a football field, the appeal of rolling shoes becomes very real, very fast.
1. Flightradar24 Revives the Concorde
Most tracked flight right now - #AF9999 flying from Paris to New York.

Nothing makes an avgeek's heart flutter like seeing Concorde zipping across the Atlantic—and for one day only, Flightradar24 gave us exactly that. Users spotted multiple supersonic icons over the ocean, complete with real flight paths and speeds.
Why we loved it:
The execution was flawless. If you weren’t paying attention to the date, you might’ve believed Concorde was making a comeback. For passriders, it was the cruelest kind of nostalgia: fast, glamorous, and unavailable for nonrev.
Final Thoughts
April Fools’ Day in aviation is less about fooling and more about fantasizing. Whether it’s a Concorde revival or a dream of scooting through terminals on lightning-fast sneakers, these jokes tap into real desires—from more comfort to more cool factor. And hey, if any of these ideas ever do take off? We’ll be first in line (on standby, naturally).
