Marriott International is diving deeper into outdoor travel by acquiring Postcard Cabins, a company offering more than 1,200 glamping properties across 29 U.S. locations.
Designed for travelers seeking nature without sacrificing comfort, these cabins are strategically located within a three-hour drive of major cities. This setup provides an ideal escape for urban dwellers looking to unplug and recharge, even on short notice.
Postcard Cabins, formerly known as Getaway Outposts, are known for their minimalist design and natural settings, offering a perfect balance of seclusion and accessibility. From cozy interiors to fire pits and walking trails, they provide everything travelers need to reconnect with nature while staying close to modern conveniences. This acquisition signals Marriott’s recognition of a growing trend: travelers craving unique, local, and immersive experiences.
Adding to this expansion, Marriott has also signed a long-term agreement with Trailborn, a boutique collection of hotels located in scenic outdoor destinations. Together, these offerings bolster Marriott's portfolio, opening doors to a new wave of travelers prioritizing sustainable, experiential stays.
Can we expect discounts for nonrevs?
Marriott already offers an amazing discount program to airline employees. Because Marriott is full acquiring Postcard Cabins, we expect that they will fall under the same rate discounts offered by all other existing Marriott brands - from Fairfield Inn and Westin to W Hotels and JW Marriott.
The agreement with Trailborn is not an acquisition, so we’re not as confident that airline staff rate savings will extend to these properties. We’ll have to see once the partnership takes hold.
Have you stayed in a cabin like these before?
