š¤ I'm a cheapskate when it comes to hotels
Plus savings in Miami and our first Layover Guide!

I want to take a moment to acknowledge the heartbreaking tragedy of American Airlines Flight 5342 last Wednesday. My thoughts and deepest condolences are with the friends and families of the four crew members and sixty passengers who tragically lost their lives. The airline community is small, and losses like this are felt deeply across all of us who take to the skies. Sending strength and support to everyone impacted. šļø
Finding hotels in NYC from only $84/night!

My airline ID saving me tons of money on hotels, lol
Happy February, airline fam!
This month is still a pretty slow period for travel in the Northern Hemisphere, so Iām trying to take advantage of opportunities where I can find them ā that means following empty flights and, more importantly, cheap accommodations.
Iāve stayed home quite a bit in Florida to escape the cold, but I fear that is coming to an end. Itās time to take my sweaters out of storage (š§) and pack my bags for a journey father north.
I have a few friends in New York City whom I havenāt seen for a bit, so Iām currently planning a five-day trip there. Thereās a ton of options to LGA/JFK/EWR from Florida (especially this time of year), so Iām not worried about flights - Iām confident that Iāll snag a seat on something!
So my quest to find hotel rooms has begun. š§āš»
As always, I start by checking Hiltonās airline staff rates first. I find their deals to be slightly superior to the other big brands and you can earn Hilton Honors points and status qualifying nights on these rates.
For my travel dates, I can stay at a nicely rated property in an amazing location in Manhattan for only $108/night! This rate is also fully refundable until 23:59 the night before arrival. So if the flights suddenly fill up the next day, I can always cancel.

An incredible deal for NYC!
If I want to save even more, I can book Marriottās airline leisure rate at the TownPlace Suites Long Island City - only $84/night! The hotel is only a short one-stop subway ride into Manhattan.

A hotel with a mini kitchen in NYC for less than $100!
Marriottās airline leisure rate doesnāt allow you to earn stay credits or Bonvoy points, but it still might be worth saving $24/night vs. the Hampton Innā¦ š¤
In any case, I clearly have some good money-saving options available to me thanks to my airline ID. It pays to shop around and check rates for multiple brands wherever you end up going!
As always, check our site for hotels that offer exclusive rates for airline staff. We add more every week!
With a New York state of mind,
